In education, a teacher is a person who provides schooling for others. A teacher who facilitates education for an individual student may also be described as a personal tutor. The role of teacher is often formal and ongoing, carried out by way of occupation or profession at a school or other place of formal education. In many countries, a person who wishes to become a teacher at state-funded schools must first obtain professional qualifications or credentials from a university or college. These professional qualifications may include the study of pedagogy, the science of teaching. Teachers will have to continue their education after they receive their degree from a college or university. Teachers may use a lesson plan to facilitate student learning, providing a course of study which covers a standardized curriculum. A teacher's role may vary between cultures. Teachers teach literacy and numeracy, or some of the other school subjects. Other teachers may provide instruction in craftsmanship or vocational training, the Arts, religion or spirituality, civics, community roles, or life skills. In some countries, formal education can take place through home schooling. Informal learning may be assisted by a teacher occupying a transient or ongoing role, such as a parent or sibling or within a family, or by anyone with knowledge or skills in the wider community setting. Religious and spiritual teachers, such as gurus, mullahs, rabbis pastors/youth pastors and lamas may teach religious texts such as the Quran, Torah or Bible. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License Is there any advantage or disadvantage of lady special educators ?Why dont good men take up special educator p? Q. There are more women in special education as qualified special educator's Most of the qualified special educator men are Misfits in the community. I personally feel a good role model man as special educator makes a difference to young boys . They will surely miss out on many things? Asked by Arif N - Mon Sep 14 23:41:15 2009 - - 5 Answers - 1 Comments A. There are many reasons for this. 1. The stereotype- men are not to be teachers. 2. Men are typically not suited for this type of work. 3. They are not made to have compassion, like women do Although I agree with you that men should take on a larger role as being role models, but they don't. I don't want to make you mad but it just seems to me that most men are lazy and just don't want to do this, even though they are suppose to. Lots of men don't take care of their kids at home, leaving everything to their mother. A mother cant' provide the things that a father can. Then, a new generation of young men grow up being even lazier and sorrier than the ones before them, and people wonder why. DUH!!! Answered by jdeekdee - Tue Sep 15 14:21:41 2009 ELEMENTARY TEACHERS AND EDUCATORS: How does your school system sort kids into the different homerooms? Q. I mean like last year my daughter was in Ms. Howards class with Angeleah (friend) and Hannah (Friend) and this year she is in Ms. Bleckleys class with Angeleah and Laura (Friend)- How do they determine which kids go together in a class and which teacher? Asked by Hallie - Sat Apr 10 18:28:23 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Usually there is a meeting at the end of the previous year and the teachers discuss which children should NOT be together, or who might have academic issues that a certain teacher can handle better. (Sometimes if there are male teachers they might think certain kids would fit better into those classes.) Assuming your daughter is just a normal kid, once they've decided about the special cases it's kind of a lottery. If they think that she or her friends talk too much or don't concentrate they might split them up, but otherwise it's just a matter of the numbers -- how many boys, how many girls, etc. Parents can request certain teachers, but schools don't often respond to that unless there's a very good reason. Answered by cjvw622 - Sat Apr 10 18:37:55 2010 How big of a problem is the growing shortage of educators/professors in academia?
Q. According to the WSJ, there is a growing shortage of business professors, and under my understanding there shortages other fields(medical/nursing) as well. Is academia doing anything about this to address this? Is it something to worry about in the future? Asked by Zocalo - Sat Mar 31 20:09:01 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Academia cannot compete financially for the top talent in the fields you mention, so it is something that will continue into the future. What alot of universities have done due to the shortage and also for the financial benefit of the university is to rely increasingly on part-time (adjunct) instructors to pick up the load at a fraction of the price.
