What education and training is needed to be a professional golf player?
Q. I am doing a career report and I want to be a golf player for the LPGA. What education is training needed to pursue this career? How many years of education, college you could attend and what type of degree do you earn? Also, what are average salaries? Thanks so much!!

A. Being a "Golf Professional" isn't necessarily the same as being a "Professional Golfer". Golf Pros generally work within the golf industry as instructors, Golf Course Managers/Director's of Golf etc. Professional Golfers play the game to make a living. To become a Golf Pro you need at the least to have a diploma in golf management from a community college. These courses teach everything from course maintenance to club repairs to running local tournaments to managing a golf course. To be a Professional Golfer you need the skill to play the game at it's highest level.

A. I am a sophomore and currently taking two courses related to my major (middle grades edu) So far they have been helpful. One is about diversity in the classroom, which will be helpful because America is a melting pot and there will be kids from all types of cultures and ethnicity's in my class in the future and this is preparing me to deal with them. and the other is about teacher etiquette. Of course that will be helpful for obvious reasons, there are a million things that are inappropriate to do or say around children, somethings that you would not even think. So in conclusion these courses are great.

How many more years of education would I have to complete to become a psychiatrist?
Q. I am currently a special education teacher. My specialization is children with behavior and emotional disoders. I have a completed my bachelors in special education and will soon complete my masters degree in special education. I want to become a psychiatrist and wanted to know would I have to go backwards and get a bachelors in medicine? How may more years would this take me to complete?
Asked by tisha_48505 - Mon Jul 14 12:27:20 2008 - Higher Education (University +) - 3 Answers - Comments
A. You need to go to medical school and specialize in psychiatry, which means you need to take undergraduate pre-med requirements (which will take two semesters of full time study) and then of course, the MCATS and apply to medical school. How long does med school take? Look it up! Instead, you may decide that rather than throwing pills at children, since all psychiatrists really do is dispense medications(realistically rather than ideally), you may want to become a psychotherapist or psychologist. This will require less schooling because you can apply to do a Ph D in practicing clinical psychology and given your background this may only take an additional 2 years.

How much Education is required before an individual is considered for a position?
Q. Working Adults are advancing their careers. (If they are working, why would they need more education)? Since 1946 we have provided hundreds of thousands of people with practical real world education, aimed at advancing their careers. That is the message I received. Yet no-one in this area is working. So how much education is required before an individual is considered for a position?

A. I am a collector of college degrees in various fields, but education is only a piece of the puzzle when being considered for a profession. In addition, you need to have work experience. Many people with limited education or vocational education make very good money and are happy in their professions.

A. I have friends who work as interpreters in Europe. They did their undergraduate degrees in the foreign language they want to work with, while taking a few Linguistics courses as their electives. Then, they did Master's degrees in Translating. This isn't my area of interest, and I don't know of any North American universities that offer graduate programs in Translating.

What education it takes to be a police officer ?
Q. I am 16 In school still Wondering what education it takes, do you have to be OP Eligible I know you can sit a tafe course but can i still reach my goals through that ??? Questions: What education ? Whats there pay ? What it takes ? Thank you for your time.

A. All you need is to be 21 years old and pass a background investigation. You at least need a High School diploma but since you graduate HS at 18(generally) you should spend those 2 years or so getting an A.S. in Justice Administration from a nearby Community College or better yet get a Bachelors or even a graduate degree so that you can be promoted easier. The average pay throughout the USA is $47,000 but in major cities pay is around $54,000 a year. It takes a lot of patience and good judgment to be a police officer. A lot of people aren't going to like you for the fact that you are a Law Enforcement Officer but don't take it personally.

How does an education background check work?
Q. I am up for a position and they are in the process of running different background checks on me. The one that concerns me is the education background check. I am exactly one class shy of earning the BS degree that I claimed on my CV. I walked during graduation and everything, but I never got the *incomplete* for that class cleared up and, hence, never completely fulfilled my graduation requirements. In an education background check, do companies verify that you have the degree or just that you attended the university during the dates you claimed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Asked by mike_h - Mon Jun 30 16:53:06 2008 - Other - Careers & Employment - 5 Answers - Comments
A. An education verification typically will verify the highest level of degree obtained. If you did not actually graduate, then it will be reported as such. Many colleges and universities have chosen to outsource their verifications to a third party, so the background screening company usually does not even talk to the school to find any additional information. I would suggest clearing this up. As a follow up, there are fewer companies that verify education backgrounds then criminal backgrounds.

I can't find the data, but I know I saw a chart showing how countries with low education are very poor and countries with lots of education are much better off financially. So it stands to logic if a country were to give every citizen a free Ph D quality education it's per capita income would be highest in the world. Would you support this? Why or why not?

A. there isn't really any education that you NEED in the industry. the music industry is more about who you know than schooling. that being said there are a lot of things you can learn that will help you along the way. knowing electronics is good because gear breaks, and being able to fix it, or at least understand it works. this also gives you the option to create your own stuff. i've known people that have created their own pre-amps, and microphones because they know what they're doing. communications classes are good because being an engineer you have to be able to communicate with people. you will have artists and producers that will tell you that they want the guitar to be more "crunchy" or the hat needs more "shine".… [cont.]

What purposes does education serve other than providing greater economic rewards?
Q. Why do you and the people of your community need to have a good education? And what purposes does education serve other than providing greater economic rewards, such as enabling people to get better paying jobs? This is for an essay. Would love some ideas. I honestly don't know where to start. Help please!

A. You don't need an education unless you plan to do something that requires it. The reason we go to school is because if parents didn't send their children to school they'd be fined; if they refuse to pay the fine, people in blue costumes with guns will come to take their children away and throw them in a cage; if they resist this aggression they'll be shot. The same will happen to anyone who refuses to pay for this "service" regardless of whether they have children attending school or not.
